Elon Musk’s next five revolutionary innovations
Predicting what Elon Musk is going to do is hard but fun so here it goes:
1) A luxury minivan without steering wheel
With Boring tunnels reduced size, comes the need to move more people per vehicle. Moving up to 10 people in luxury through a limited sized tunnel, will increase the efficiency and profitability of any Boring project. The minivan will also make economical sense when Robot Taxi Networks offer a very cheap transport as a service which you share with others. This will be very disruptive for public transport. You choose, paying £100/month or less to be driven to work in luxury or to pay a lot more to be squeezed together with hundreds more in a wagon.
2) A Tesla Wind-Based Electricity Generating Product
Not everybody is living in sunny Los Angeles. Wind, sun and batteries are the key to electricity overproduction. More Teslas will be sold if electric energy is available in oversupply. Wind energy is the missing element, so Elon will soon be offering a revolutionary wind product.
3) A new company focused on 3D printing
SpaceX will not be able to take many heavy machinery to Mars. So being able to take light 3D printers which can create other machinery, tools and even print food, would be a logical next step. Given this does not fit inside an existing company, a new company will be needed.
4) Sleep Academy – Learning while sleeping
A workaholic like Musk must see sleeping as a waste of time. Being able to use Neurolink to introduce new learnings directly into your brain while you sleep, would make the wasted part of the day productive. Sleep academy will be very disruptive towards traditional education. When transporting people to Mars they might actually be sleeping the whole time. This would be a lot cheaper.
5) Personalised products bought via mind commerce
Tesla is all about using robots to mass produce products faster and cheaper. SpaceX needs to rethink how to recreate factories from zero on an empty planet. Container-sized robot factories are the answer. Make dynamic factories by connecting containers together. Neurolink will help you see yourself in those perfectly fitting new cloths. If you can think it, you can buy it. A Tesla robot factory near you will quickly produce it. A robot taxi will deliver it. SpaceX will use them to build everything we need on Mars. Musk will become the galaxy’s first multi-trillionaire…
Conclusion
Are any of these ideas going to happen, only Elon can tell. What is more importantly is that many industries will be at the mercy of a few visionary entrepreneurs. Too many CEO’s are more worried about the next quarter than what is going to happen in five years to their company. Unless a company is able to create products that can reimagine an industry or create new industries altogether, the chances are high that disruption and decline are the only long term certainty. Innovation is key to grow future profits…
